The "John Rock" palm
“The “John Rock” palm, so-called (by me) because this palm was planted along the original front drive. Look for the photo - possibly of John Rock and R.D. Fox - taken by Andrew P. Hill who we admire as a photographer and the man who saved Big Basin Redwoods.
Two palms remain along this drive. Mexican fan palms are huggable size, California fan palms are not. Which is John Rock?
Magnolias and sycamores were later planted along this road which was later named Magnolia Road on the maps.
